ABSTRACT

There are few case reports in the world literature in English of vaginal leech infestation in pre-pubertal, menstrual and postmenopausal females. The usual presentation is painless continuous vaginal bleeding. Blood transfusion was required in half the published case reports. Vaginoscopy seems to be underused, as there is only one recorded case report of its use during the management of vaginal leech infestation in a teenage girl.

Keywords:
Vaginal leech infestation; Painless vaginal bleeding; Pre-pubertal vaginal bleeding.
